Lately I’ve noticed that things have been constantly breaking around me. First, my 2+ yr old cell phone started acting funny, rebooting itself for no reason from time to time, even during calls. So I decided to upgrade to the ROKR. But after not even a week, it’d refuse to show all the menu items such that some functions could not be accessed. I ended up getting a new replacement phone, which isn’t as good as it sounds since now I don’t know when/if it’ll break like that again.
Next, it was the doorbell at my parents’ place. It was constantly making a buzzing sound. I probably wouldn’t have tried to fix it if the buzzing wasn’t so annoying. I "fixed" it by disconnecting the switch outside the porch screen, which was causing the circuit to close permanently somehow.
About two weeks ago, my bike stalled a couple of times when it came to a stop. I was lucky and was able to re-start it, with some difficulty. But 2 weekends ago it finally gave up for good. I had it towed to a garage to have the carburetor cleaned and sync’ed. I have not yet got it back. Luckily the weather hasn’t been that nice for riding these two weeks anyway
Last weekend while I was talking on my landline, I heard a loud noise of statics before the call dropped. Soon after, my house alarm went off. I looked up the manual to decipher the trouble code, which turned out to be a phone line fault, no surprise. After a quick look in the basement, I managed to get the phone plug to the alarm working, but not the phone plugs in the rest of the house. I have yet to look into this, so don’t call me at home
A few nights ago after doing laundry in my basement, I went to turn off the light. It’s one of those cheapie lights with the switch as part of the light fixture, driven by a cord. Well, when I pulled on the cord to turn off the light, the whole cord came off. I don’t think it’s fixable, so until I buy a new one, I’ll have to turn it on and off by screwing the lightbulb in and out
A couple of days ago after going out to get lunch, I pulled up to the parking lot at work and lazily pulled up my car top without locking the latches, as I usually do. I’d usually just leave my car top down if it wasn’t for the sweltering heat and the fact that there’s no shade in the parking lot. What I’d never seen is the top being blown down by the wind, which was what I found when I left work. This is not so much a problem except for the snapped wire at the end of a small spring that I have noticed in the top. I still don’t know what this wire is for???
And finally, to top this all off, I myself have become broken last night after eating a bowl of cherries. I thought that I would be fine by today after spending a couple of long visits in the washroom. I guess my stomach likes to take its time to recover.
